Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Joyously wonderful boogie from Canada’s top party band of the early 70’s.
...but, the opening totally lifted from Ray Charles’ Mess Around.
Heck, it’s even in the same key.

One of my fondest memories - Crowbar at the Cave. Kelly Jay and crew were unbelievable. Thanks for the post, NS.

I listened to a lot of Radio between 1962 and 1974, but never once heard "Mess Around" played as an Oldie. In fact, I never heard it until I got Sirius/XM in mid-2010 and started listening to 50s on 5.

Lots of great '50s music never got played as an Oldie, which made it a prime candidate for "Re-use". In part or in whole. "Mountain of Love" being the best example that always pops into my head. I also thought Johnny Rivers did it first, but Harold Dorman's original version hit #21 in 1960, and David Houston scored his first hit with it, at #2 on the Country charts in 1963, which also Bubbled Under the Billboard Hot 100.
