Today's Can-Con 45 is from late 1966 ... Vancouver's Mike Campbell and "Remorse" on Tom Northcott's New Syndrome label ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

A story circulates that Mike Campbell was chosen by Terry Jacks to demo a song called, at that point, Which Way You Going Buddy. It was only afterwards that producer Terry realized the song needed to be retweaked and come from a woman's perspective. Of course, it was rejigged and later recorded by Terry's new band The Poppy Family with then-wife Susan Jacks singing lead on the slightly retitled Which Way You Going Billy.

Oh yeah, the composer of Remorse, Tom Baird, later made quite a name for himself with Motown Records.

He co-wrote and/or arranged songs for The Supremes, Bobby Taylor and The Vancouvers among other Motown acts. Later, he
helped guide Rare Earth on Motown's spinoff label of the same name. A gifted keyboardist, Tom cut his teeth with The Classics but was not one of the members of that CBC tv houseband who later helped create The Collectors (later Chilliwack). Tom was presumed lost at sea after disappearing while sailing alone off the California coast in 1975.
