Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Radio listeners of Kelowna are continuing to tune in to the CBC.

The top radio station in Kelowna, according to the latest radio ratings book released this week, is once again CBC Radio 1, taking a strong lead in the market in the spring ratings book.

The ratings released by Numeris, formerly the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement, shows CBC Radio 1 now holding 16.2 per cent of the market share, up from the 15.8 it held in December.

EZ Rock made major gains in this rating period, snatching second place from Country 100.7.

According to Numeris, EZ Rock now boasts 12.3 per cent market share, up from 9.7 per cent in the last ratings book.

Country 100.7 dropped just one spot to third overall, grabbing 11.8 per cent market share, down from 15.7 per cent in December.

Juice FM saw a significant fall in ratings, dropping from third spot overall to eighth overall, going from 10.5 per cent market share to six per cent.

While each station targets a specific audience, Castanet used the over-reaching 12-plus demographic.

Rounding out the top four, 99.9 Sun FM held its fourth spot position, taking 10.3 per cent market share, up slightly from the 10.2 per cent it held in December.

Power 104 held its fifth spot in the rankings, holding 9.6 per cent market share, down slightly from 9.7 in December.

AM1150 has moved up a spot, grabbing sixth overall, increasing its market share to 8.8 per cent, versus 7.3 per cent in December.

K96.3 moved up one spot overall, now taking seventh place with a market share of 8.3 per cent, up 1.3 from the seven per cent it held in December.

And Q103 held its position at the bottom of the list, losing a small percentage of market share, going from 4.8 per cent in December to 4.5 per cent this spring.

The nine radio stations serving the Central Okanagan were monitored by Numeris from Feb. 29 to April 24.

Numeris defines market share as the "estimated total hours tuned to that station expressed as a percentage of total hours tuned to all radio."

Radio stations in the Okanagan are rated twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall.

I can't say much about the prime demographic numbers without getting into trouble, other than to say they're VERY different from the 12+ ones.
