Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

How many of the original News 1130 people are still there? There are a few I'm sure I've heard since day one like Russ Byth, Gary Raible and Bruce Williams. Who else?

There'd better be points involved here RF!

There are 7 of us to the best of my recollection.... in addition to the three above (and there are 2 R's in Garry), there's Kim Larssen, Dianne Newman, Treena Wood and Jim Goddard.

Apparently you have to have 2 of the same letters back to back in one of your names to last! ;)

Congratulations Russ, and all the others at News 1130. Wow, 13 years! Time goes by so quickly. There were a few critics around, 13 years ago, that said it wouln't fly. But it's a major part of my listening day. And from what I've heard, the numbers are very good! Congrats everyone.

Thanks Mouth! Yes, you're right...the critics were plenty 13 years ago... "Vancouver's not big enough for an all news station"... things like that. Along the way there were imitators and more 'traffic on the whatevers' , but we've always had people who came to the station to work (kinda like the athletes who 'come to play') and I'm very happy to have been a part of it since day 1. :)

At the risk of this becoming mushy, you folks have come a long way. There were some growing pains, and some rookie sounding readers when you first started, but now you're very solid with some seasoned verterans, (being kind  ) like Brian Brenn, Andy Walsh, Richard alwaysindebt-man, and of course Jim Bennie. Keep up the good work.

Happy Birthday News 1130!! Definately a part of my day too!
I wake up to it, drive to work with it, and listen all day at work.
Is Kimmie going to bake a cake for everybody?

KD? Wow .. I'd at least expect some KFC or something from A&W!

While we're wishing News 1130 a happy 13th birthday, we should also congratulate Russ Byth for being employee of the month!

Congratulations to Mr. Bythe, George Gordon, Diane Neumann, Jim Bennie, Richard Dettman and the rest of the originals. The hard work has paid off for a lot of great people.
Nice to see success in this age of the death of radio.

Geez Segue... I know you meant well, but all the names were spelled properly up above! ;) (Gordon and Bennie were not originals, though Bennie was close... Dettman might have been there on day-1, but I recall he went away for a while)

The memory is not what it was....
