Radio Ratings Dec. 2009 to Feb. 2010 Edmonton{Radiofan's ratings grid was inserted here}
Despite the change in audience measurement from often-inaccurate sample diaries to high-tech clip-on sample meters, listenership hasn't dramatically changed from the last "quarterly" report on Edmonton radio.
CHED, CISN and EZ Rock are still dominate, though EZ had the seasonal advantage of playing all Christmas tunes during Christmas, which we evidently quite enjoy.
The sudden leap in fame of Capital FM and Sonic FM, thanks to the people meters, proved to be no fluke.
Everybody else was pretty close to where they were before.
Interestingly enough, the "all others" category - stations whose owners don't want to pay for the privilege of knowing where they stand in relation to other stations - is up to 8.2% or "share".
Which means a fair number of listeners are tuned in to maverick teen station Hot 107, campus radio CJSR, gospel The Light and Shine FM, listener-supported CKUA, ethnic World FM and aboriginal CFWE.
Probably at least half of the "all others" would be Hot 107, as direct competitor The Bounce has taken a hit since Hot 107 was launched before Christmas.
Not included is new pop station Now 102.3, which only launched two weeks ago on Feb. 23, 2010.
