The windows appear to be boarded up. And I'm assuming that this is the original 1939 building. From when CBK was supposed to cover everything from the Rockies to the Ontario border.

In the early days, they actually broadcast live from here.

By the way folks, that classic architectural style (used for so many stations of the era) is Art Deco.

i have some shots from the inside.
i took them about 2003 when i was driving by one day. i had a camera and the doors were open - the maintenance guy was working there. he let me look around.
Here is the basic building layout: (when looking at the building from the highway)
There are sheet copper lined studios still intact and the sleeping quarters in the lower level of the studio block. That portion is on the left side of the building.
the Genset Room on the back right
the bomb shelter (which was flooded when I was there) is on the front right side
photos are of the original floor showing all stations as they existed when the building was commissioned… but there was a tx installed on the floor some years later… a shame…
also, you can see the guy supports for the original tower – white painted in behind the building…
historic… and a very neat building.

What you are looking at is the floor of the main master control area - the center front of the building.
It's a map of Canada with all the radio stations on air in 1939 when the building was built.

unfortunatly, in their wisdom, the CBC decided to install a transmitter on top of floor.

the inside of that building - though old and dusty - was like a step back in time with the finish work...

You will be happy to know, they have moved that old transmitter out of the building. They moved it to a new building behind the original and its now the back up. I have a couple of pictures of the Floor which has been mostly restored, but I can not seem to put them on the site.
