Bruce Williams Update

Postby Russ_Byth » Tue Sep 21, 2010 10:46 am

Wishing my buddy and News1130 traffic guru Bruce Williams the best of luck today as he has colon cancer surgery. Saw Bruce a couple of weeks ago and he's got a real positive state of mind about this. It appears to have been detected early and its his intention to be around for a long time to watch his grandson grow up. :D

Let me echo everyone's wishes for this really nice man, and a delightful team mate.

We worked together for quite a while and all we did was laugh.

Our whole Family sends our very best to the entire clan.

Looking forward to hearing Mr Smooth back on the air, asap.

Bruce Williams Update

Postby Russ_Byth » Tue Sep 21, 2010 6:19 pm

Just spoke with Bruce's wife and she says things went a bit better than expected today.
The surgeons were able to use laser surgery to remove the growth and are confident they got it all.
Next up is making sure there are no leaks, and then yet-to-be-determined post-hospital treatment.

Bruce knows about the best wishes being sent his way, and thanks everyone for them!

I would like to add my name here as well. I've never met Bruce, but he sure kept me company in the car for many years during that long drawn out daily commute from Aldergrove to Vancouver that I had to deal with. Get well real soon !!!

Wishing you a speedy recovery Bruce. Mornings just aren't the same without you and Kimmie. This kid they have filling in for you
is dreadful. Send him back to Smithers.

Bruce ...I think you'll be calling me soon to collect on that $4.99 parking fee that I still owe you from that night in '81 when we went together in your car to see Christopher Cross at the Colesium. God speed.

Even if it was the 80's, why??? ( of course, this coming from a guy who went to a Bee Gees concert at the same place two years earlier). Oh wait!...1981. The golden age of free tickets, booze and swag. I get it.
Seriously, Bruce, all my best. We guys (and gals) care about our own.

Well put N.S.! The Eighties! Comps!

This particular ChrisCross show that Bruce and I went to was the absolute worst concert we'd ever seen and then to add to the grand spectacle EVERY amp and loudspeaker went dead on the stage...now we coundn't even hear the misery. Even the light show. ALL power to the stage! They looked like idiots.
It was quite sad and funny at the same time. Memories, huh, Bruce!

Of course moving forward from the eighties there were also those memorable days when I used to be Neumann Sennheiser's board op. Another story!

Get well soon Bruce. You've paid the 'Fifer'. inside joke.

From back in the Christopher Cross era, didn't Bruce drive a Camaro or Firebird with personalized "CKLG" plates on it that was often parked on Brunette
just east of Schoolhouse and Hoy's Market?
