Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Huge losses for country in Calgary while the Edmonton counterparts post substantial gains; just proves one market cannot be compared to another.
Meanwhile, oldies XL pulls ahead of LITE and that's just a sample of the hurt ahead for Rogers when Don and Joanne re-land at The Eagle.

Oldies done well can be a ratings hit.
Too bad Rogers can't get it right in Vancouver.

Wow... never seen CKRY go so low. I still wonder how country on AM can survive, I suppose when 960 went sports someone had to put it back on the dial. Trouble is 1060 is nothing like 960 ever was.

Take a look at CFCW-AM in Camrose-Edmonton, a 5.2 in a crowded FM market. In the 12+ numbers I've seen on the streets, they have even bigger numbers and are actually beating Easy Rock by 0.2.

The answer, of course, is the sizable rural audience, many in areas where FM reception is marginal, at best. CFCW does a great job of combining information and Traditional Country music.

Calgary has the same potential, but CKMX-1060 has Q91 also on AM in Drumheller to deal with. Which, like CFCW, is also owned by Newcap. CKMX is owned by Astral.

Oh yeah, I forgot about 910 which comes in clear in Calgary and IMHO has a better play list than 1060. In Lethbridge, I have to deal with the 455khz noise although my Sony radio(s) pick it up better than the muddy sound of 1060. When it comes to CFCW they seem to care about the listeners, not just playing stuff they think is good.

This is just my opinion. I don't speak for those who like AM 1060.
