It's been quite a few months since our last GTG ...

How about a "The Cup Is Almost Ours" RadioWest GTG?

We'll get this out of the way before the days start getting shorter and Summer is upon us!

Why not join us on Sunday June 5th ...

Time: Noon til ???

We hope to see the usual gang plus a few new faces ...

Location: Marine Pub in Burnaby. Near the corner of Marine Drive and Gilley, just west of Byrne Road. Website.

If you need directions, ask here or email.

The location is Transit friendly. #100 "22nd Street Station" bus runs from the Marpole Loop east along Marine Drive. There is a stop almost at the door. From Skytrain get off at 22nd Street station and catch the #100 "Marpole Loop", there is a bus stop across the street from the pub.

If you plan to join us, please let us know...either by posting here or sending an email to: party@radiowest.ca .. just so we have a rough idea of how much space we will need.

Hope to see you on Sunday the 5th!

In light of the tragic loss of one of our members within the last 24 hours, I'm wondering how we, as a group who have become as close as family, should address this as far as the GTG this Sunday is concerned.
Go ahead as planned?
Post-pone out of respect?
Maybe getting together so soon is the best thing to do. Maybe not.
There will certainly be an empty chair and likely two as Dan could not be expected.
Or, perhaps to be there and for the group to be there for him is exactly what he may need.

I just don't know people.

Thoughts?

Neumann, I know where you're coming from, but I don't like being put on the spot. But I will say this.
As someone who very recently lost a loved one unexpectedly (my father) I was the first to notice that the world continued despite the fact I wanted it to stop.
I think we should go ahead.
My 2 cents.

Thanks for replying Russ.
I'm still unsure about whether or not it was my place to even put it out there. It had just been nearly a day and nobody was saying anything.
Cubby, I know for sure it's not my place to break out the details in open forum but I am sending you a private message.

I spoke with Dan earlier today and he wants us to carry on as planned. He won't be able to make it as him and the kids obviously have other things on their mind.

For those who don't have Dan as a Facebook friend, you're likely not aware that his better half, Linda Keating, passed away suddenly last night. Our thoughts go
out to Dan and his family and we share their loss.

The GTG won't be quite the same without our official photographer Linda.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

The sincerest of condolences Dan. I know you were there for me when I lost Lorraine.

May my prayers be with you at this time, this is the time to go forward and look ahead.

I will miss you on Sunday, but will talk to you soon.

Take Care, your long time friend, Doug

Jeez, Dan - we are sending our condolences on the passing of your Beloved.

Like NS said, many of the people here are like Family.

We hope you are coping OK and we all send much love and respect.
