John Roberts New Capital-FM PD

Insiders within the confines of Newcap's WEM studios are now confirming that John Roberts will be the new Program Director for CKRA-FM Edmonton, Capital-FM.

John will be returning to Edmonton after a 10 year absence that began just 3 months after the launch of Cool 8-80 where he was Program Director at CHQT and CISN-FM.

No word on when or even whether Newcap will fill the Operations Manager position left vacant when Patrick Cardinal moved to Astral.

Just looking through some old Broadcast Dialogues for background on John Roberts.

Here is what I found:

• June 29, 2000 - John Roberts is new PD at CISN-FM/CHQT Edmonton. He’s back in town after a stint in Houston...
• Sept. 20, 2001 - PD John Roberts, CISN/Cool 880 Edmonton, is no longer with the operation. Power 92 Edmonton/Power 107 Calgary PD James Stuart will now also handle the chores Roberts once did...
• March 7, 2002 - he won a Canadian Music Week award for a CHUM Promotional Campaign

Tough to track down his U.S. experience as there are several radio people with the same name. But here is one I verified because of the accompanying picture:

CLEAR CHANNEL Country WTQR/GREENSBORO PD JOHN ROBERTS has exited after five-and-a-half years with the station. ROBERTS, a programming veteran of many years, has also done stints at CLEAR CHANNEL Country WKKT/CHARLOTTE and the former Country KIKK/HOUSTON.
