Rogers On Demand app coming to Xbox 360

TORONTO, Dec. 5, 2011 /CNW/ - Rogers Communications Inc. announced today that the Rogers On Demand app on Xbox 360 will be coming to the newly designed Xbox LIVE dashboard this holiday season. The app is the first time Rogers On Demand will be available on a gaming console, and is just one of many new TV innovations expected from Rogers in the next few months.

The app, free for Rogers customers, will include over 1,000 hours of video content at launch and be available through the Xbox 360 LIVE Gold subscription. With built-in Kinect technology, entertainment is now more intuitive, instantly searchable and enjoyable in extraordinary new ways from a single device — Xbox 360.

"Over half of all Canadian households own Internet-capable gaming consoles and they're using them for more than just gaming," said David Purdy, VP Video Products, Rogers Communications Inc. "We're delighted to join forces with Microsoft and give our customers access to world-class TV entertainment anytime they want it on the popular Xbox console."

"Xbox and Rogers On Demand share a common vision, to transform and enhance the entertainment experience on TV," says Glenn Purkis, Product Manager, Xbox LIVE. "We're thrilled to host the Rogers On Demand app on Xbox LIVE and offer our members access to great content in a more social and personal way with voice and gesture controls through the power of Kinect and Bing."

Rogers postpaid wireless, home phone and Internet customers can catch-up on shows from Citytv, CBC and CBC News Network, watch movie trailers and more. Rogers customers can also catch-up on all four seasons of Mad Men. Rogers cable TV customers have access to premium channel programming that they subscribe to through their existing cable package. The app is downloadable through the Xbox LIVE dashboard with an Xbox 360 LIBE Gold subscription.
