The commercial "virtual server" upon which RadioWest.ca resides requires a "reboot" Sunday night sometime between 7-10pm Pacific, 8-11pm Mountain time. There will be single outage during that period, of less than 30 minutes.
When we moved to our present web hosting company early this year, I mentioned that this one is different, in that I had to install and configure "all" the software myself. Since then, the few times I've had to reboot, I've done it in the middle of night, after checking to be sure no one was posting.
This reboot on Sunday evening is different. It is initiated by the web hosting company because there are installing a security upgrade to the software they use to make it look like I have a real computer to run RadioWest.ca on. It is, in fact, a "virtual computer", more correctly known as a "virtual private (web) server", and is the only reason we can afford the kind of isolation from other web hosting customers that we need to provide reliable service.
