The building at 17th Avenue and 33rd Street in Calgary that was home to CFAC Radio from 1984 until the 1990's is history. It was also home to CHFM from the early 1990's
until the two stations moved to join 66 CFR and KISS FM in the Northeast.

There was a bookstore to one side of the building that sold various religious texts for years... across the street was KFC, sometimes referenced as the `chicken ranch'. There was a Safeway store a block up that had to be the smallest store in their chain. The place was packed all the time because of all the apartments located in the area... great neighbourhood. The brass plaque may have moved to the studios further west on 17th... or have they closed that one too ?

Yikes! You are about 3 decades out of date. The Safeway store has been a McDonald's for 25+ years, the KFC has still never been cleaned, and CFAC moved to 17th Ave and 33rd St - the now demolished building - in 1984 as captioned above. CHFM moved there 10 years later. CHFM (Lite 95.9) and CFAC (SN 960 The Fan) are squeezed into a Rogers building (like an afterthought) in an industrial park near the airport. Or something like that.
