No "Globe and Mail" on Labour Day, 2 Sept

Advice by email this morning:

"Dear Subscriber:

The Globe and Mail has decided not to publish a newspaper on Labour Day, Monday, September 2, 2013, due to a lack of advertising revenue for this issue, which is needed to cover the costs of formatting, printing and delivery of the paper, and the number of vacation stops by subscribers."

Quite an admission by a major Daily = "we can't publish, because there is a dearth of advertising".

I have never seen anything like it, have you?

I think it's a rather smart business move.

Like “commercial free Sunday’s” on various stations. OK.

But - when I see the Vancouver Sun/Province ask the entire team to take a buyout and are losing 30 million a month - you have to wonder how things are on ‘sales street’.
