Thanks to Campbell McCubbin for sharing!
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Great to see "gymshoes." Are you sure that it's mid-'60s? I'd say mid-'70s given Jimmy's attire.

It's at least "late sixties"... since Jimmy hadn't started there when I left in the fall of 1966. Could be early 70's... but the board remained the same. Bit more cluttered up in the newsbooth window... but pretty much the way I left it. :-)

There were no digital timers in the '60s.
So it's probably the '70s.

That's right Mike... We timed ourselves the old fashioned way... We stopped when we felt it was enough. :clock:

Two other dating items in the picture, for those interested.

To the right of the clock:
  1. Canadian flag was introduced February 15, 1965
  2. to the left of the Canadian flag, the bottom of the item has an Alberta logo/font that was introduced in 1972, ref. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbols_of_Alberta
If anyone can figure out when that funky rainbow design, seen above the flag, was used by the federal government, that would nail it down a little tighter.

My last shift in that control room was in July of 1968 and I think Jimmy started there soon after that. Everything looks the same except for the mike. I remember an old Electro voice 630, same kind they used in the bus depot to announce the departures and arrivals.
Some broadcast legends sat there in that era. Ned Corrigal, Bob Bell, Lorne Ball, and many more. I remember Clarence Mack voicing the 5:00 p.m. news and of course Ed Whalen doing sports. Great times and great folks to work with!
