Even if CBC only had 5 or 6 minutes an hour to sell, the salesfolks would be much happier than those in the Black Tower.

Someone just called and was quite shaken up that QM had lost a big chunk of their audience. No so. From a year ago, they're up. Of course there will be a drop from the last ratings period,
that one included Christmas.

Going year to year, NW is down almost two shares. At this rate, even the annoying non-stop Maple Ridge Chrysler and VW spots may soon end along with the C-Lovers spots several times an hour.
I hear evenings and mornings are the worst.

It must sting a bit to work at The Fox and know The Peak and CBC FM have beaten you. Maybe tme to "Freshen" things up a bit a 700 W Georgia?

I have to ask Alan to look at the QM number from two years ago. Hard to believe that simply applying Virgin branding in September is going to solve this problem.

Yeah, CBC tops the ratings. Look at the radio 2 numbers for the last two years. They just never get better. This talk of going off FM and only on the internet sounds very unlikely to me. With ratings like this in what is clearly a CBC town, it makes more sense to just kill radio 2 and 3.

Not sure that they stay around forever, so here is David Bray's info on Broadcaster magazine's web site that Mike is referring to:

Vancouver: CBC Radio One once again grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with an 11.4% share of hours tuned (down from 13.0% last time out). Taking the top spot for F25-54 was the Beat, posting a 14.6% share (up from 14.0% last time out). QMFM holds the lead for M25-54 listeners, delivering a 9.5 % share (down from 11.7%) followed closely by the Beat with a 9.2% up from 7.4%. The FOX is out in front for M18-34 with a 13.2% share of hrs. tuned (down from 13.4%). When it comes to Females 18-34, The Beat takes top spot with a 23.2% (flat with the last book).

Sonic - happy campers?

You have to wonder.

Cume is one sell and share is another.

Interesting - QM must wonder what the heck happened?

Heh, do they still have a guy from Arizona doing the Morning Show?

Time to hire an Aussie! Look how well CKNW is doing!!

QM is down a full point from the comparable quarter the year before. Second lowest ratings in over two years by a wide margin is nothing to celebrate unless you're stuck playing Bell's Spin Doctor.

Mr. Boom is right... 9.5 last year, 9.7 this year. That's up.
Last two years it has dropped following a big Xmas book.
This isn't rocket science folks - but some need to quit proving they're not rocket scientists.

Like I said - you can run the ratings a million ways - Boom is right.

Point taken.

It's not Rocket Science. Two years ago, during the same period, QM was at 10.7. Now they are at 9.7.

A year ago, they were at 9.5. Recovering 0.2 when you've lost 1.2 is hardly reason to break out the champagne.

Yeah, must suck to consistently be 1st or 2nd in the market.

Just like NW a decade ago as their listeners kept aging past their desirable demographics.
