I wonder what the Eckford afternoon numbers were. If they led the way for NW that may be a cause for concern.

LG 104.3's share makes the station look bad, but they have a top 5 cume. In the past few months, I am hearing this station in a lot of offices and retail stores.

Likewise with KISS 104.9. They are still third in the 3 way Hit Radio race, but they have listeners.

On the other end of the scale, NW has share, but in the cume department they are in the basement, fourth from the bottom.

If I wasn't for Coast To Coast, I wonder what the NW picture would look like? George Noorey got over 700 people at $40 a pop to his show at The Hard Rock Casino last weekend.

JW have to agree the NW Cumes are horrendous but not sure how much they impact ad sales after the NW sales department decides how to spin the next quarter. As for Coast to Coast it really is a good show as long as they get off the chemtrail wagon and I wonder how the ratings look.

Might be that as long as they keep their staff costs down NW's bottom line isnt that bad even with lower ad sales.

You can get a good idea of the long term direction of the stations by comparing apples with apples. If you go back to the same time two years ago you have some winners and some losers.

Winners: CBU-AM 11.3 to 12.2, CHQM 9.5 to 11.4, CKZZ 7.3 to 7.5, CFMI from 6.4 to 7.4, CFOX 3.4 to 5.7, CJAX 5.3 to 5.7, CKKS 3.3 to 3.7, CISL 2.0 to 3.4, CHLG 1.1 to 2.4
Among the biggest winners are Corus who managed to almost double the share for CFOX and make substantial gains with CFMI for a total gain of 3.3 share.

Losers: CKNW 10.5 to 8.1, CFBT 7.6 to 6.8, CKWX 6.5 to 5.7, CJJR 7.1 to 5.7, CBU-FM 5.0 to 3.0, CKPK 3.0 to 2.9, CKST 3.5 to 2.8, CHMJ 0.7 to 0.6, CFTE 0.3 to 0.2
The biggest losers are CKNW and CBU-FM although CJJR is steadily losing market share.

What's interesting is that the same management is responsible for winners and losers. There's plenty of money to be made by all of them.

The numbers that actually mean something from David Bray...

Vancouver: Radio One grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with a 12.4% share of hours tuned (down from 14.1% last time out). Taking the top spot for F25-54 was Z95.3, posting a 12.4% share (up from 10.2% last time out) followed closely by QM-FM at 12.3%. Rock101 holds the lead for M25-54 listeners, delivering an 11.0% share (up from 10.5%). The FOX is out in front for M18-34 with a 22.0% share of hrs. tuned (up from 18.1%). When it comes to Females 18-34, Z95.3 takes top spot with a 17.2% share.

I'm surprised by the low 25 to 54 numbers for CBC 1 (considering how big the +2 number is). I guess most of those CBC listeners are over 54.

^^^Safe to assume then that older CKNW listeners have migrated to CBC? ^^^

Or at least that there's a split now?

Interesting to revisit the latest Ratings in light of the following from Steve Kowch:
Sources tell me that four of the biggest radio groups in Canada secretly used Voltair between March and the end of May of this year on some of their radio stations to boost their 2015 Spring PPM rating results.

“It definitely impacted the stations using Voltair,” one radio source told me. “Evanov Communications, Corus, Newcap and Bell tested the technology. Newcap had Voltair on most of their stations. Bell tested it out on one of their AM stations.”

The radio stations in Canada equipped with Voltair had major variances in the ratings and that caught the attention of Numeris that runs the PPM ratings system in Canada.
