Gerry Thom (aka Jack Casey)... how it began

Postby radiofan » Mon Feb 22, 2016 9:58 am

Dennis Rimmer of Radisson, SK has lots of interesting stories on his Examiner.com site looking at cultural traditions in Canada, several relating to the radio industry...

http://www.examiner.com/cultural-tradit ... nis-rimmer

He's recently done a couple of posts about Radio West member and frequent contributor Gerry Thom (aka Jack Casey) and his career and how it all began in Drumheller.

Thanks Dennis
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Yeah, thanks Dennis. He found a writer's way of making the minutiae of my radio career somewhat interesting.
The metaphor of Yoko sounding like "three cats fighting in a two cat bag"?
Dennis coined that one.
I wish I was that funny.

Still here in Washington, now working as a sort-of-PD for cashiers at a local big box store.
I use up the rest of my awake time in community theater, the local Port Townsend Film Festival and I keep saying I'm going to offer my volunteer time to the local community FM station.
That radio bug that crawled up my butt will not die.
"You don't know man! I was in radio man! I've seen things you wouldn't believe!"

Thanks Dennis! Jack is one of those special people, that made my career so enjoyable. Always positive and supportive and very talented.....and modest.

Kind of like you, Mr. Rimmer.

We had a great team at 1900 West Fourth and I consider myself lucky to have been part of the mix.

Life has gone by so fast.

I miss so many great people.

*It is also hard to believe that it has been just about a year since we lost Fred. Cathy, I have been thinking about a lot, and I hope to get to see her this summer.

Harry Hammer. Have not seen that name for years.

Jack Casey was on of my top all time wingers, and I am very lucky to still call him a close friend. In fact, I consider him a Brother.

Talented, modest and kind.

Like Mr. B!
