We are saddened to announce that our mother, Rochelle Van Halm passed away on the evening of Tuesday, February 23rd.

Rochelle spent the last week of her life with us on a Caribbean cruise. We went snorkelling in Haiti, toured the historic sites of Falmouth, Jamaica, and visited the ruins of the Mayan city of Tulum in Mexico. We enjoyed delicious three-course meals, spectacular shows, and even a little dancing.

Near the end of the cruise her condition began to deteriorate and after flying home she was admitted to hospital. Rochelle passed away surrounded by family and friends.

Courageous and caring, she inspired many throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Rochelle’s life will be held the first weekend of April. Details to follow.

All our love,
Baxter Van Halm Robinson and Kate V Robinson

Thank you, Jack.

Rochelle was a good friend and colleague... and, if I may say so, one hell of a good news reporter.

The past half dozen years were really tough on her. She put up a good fight and certainly deserved a far better outcome, as we had all hoped she might have a chance of winning that toughest of battles.

In her 59th year, she is gone far too soon. Godspeed, Rochelle. R.I.P.

Father of the children, Wade Robinson, departed 2008.

Loved to hang out with Rocky and Wade.

One word - sad.

Thanks for the note, Jack. Sorry to hear about this. It's been a long time since we all had a drink or two at the club.

I'd be interested in hearing more about Rochelle's father Wade Robinson. The only 2008 obit under that name that I could find was for a fellow who was only 55-56 years of age.

Jon

I think you should stay off some threads....

Wade Robinson is the father of Rochelle's two children mentioned in the first post.

Sigh. I was simply trying to figure out if Wade was ever in broadcasting as he isn't listed in any of the lists that I have.

I followed your mention of his death in 2008, but only found an obit of a much younger man with the same name in the Vancouver Sun from that year.

I hardly think that violates the sanctity of a thread discussing the death of Rochelle.

Rochelle and Wade, married in 1982, parents of Kate (1986) and Baxter (1989), were divorced in 1997.

Thank you very much, Mr. Kendrick, for clarifying things. The "Father of the children" comment in an early post had me believing, obviously incorrectly, that Wade and Rochelle were Father and Daughter.
