attn: NW Newsreaders: Free Aircheck Critiques

Postby PicturesForYourEars » Thu Jun 15, 2017 12:46 pm

THIS FROM VISTA RADIO:

(sounds like a morning man needs some new show prep material to me):

We hear all too frequently from people who apply for on-air jobs in Vista that they aren't getting enough feedback.

In Vista our mandate is to provide feedback to our own on-air folks every 2 weeks at a minimum. Without question the feedback makes them and our on-air product better.

So I thought why not offer to give some feedback to anyone that wants it?

I was thrilled that our talented programming team jumped at the idea.

We created an online portal through vistaradio.ca where people can upload material

We guarantee to provide those that send us their aircheck that we will provide them with our feedback within 48 hours.

This service is being provided entirely free of charge

This is great way to see what kind of talent is out there and fill up their voice bank.

I am sure it is only a matter of time before someone edits down some classic airchecks, both good and bad, omitting anything that might date them, and submits them with a fake resume.

I'm sure that Rob Christie could turn this into a Morning Show bit on Capital FM.

First historic aircheck that comes to mind would be Chuck "Hot Ticket" McKay, who got fired during his inaugural all night on The Big 8, CKLW, in 1975:

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
