HERITAGE CKOO CALLS RETURN TO THE OKANAGAN
Castanet (Avenue Radio) has changed the call letters of recently acquired CJUI 103.9 in Kelowna to CKOO "Okanagan Oldies", The CKOO calls were originally at 1240 in Osoyoos and rebroadcaster CKOO-1 1490 in Oliver from 1966 to 1991. After that they did a bit of travelling, first at 98.5 in Montreal from 2000 to 2004 and then in the early 2010's at an Aboriginal station in Broadview, Saskatchewan which has since gone dark.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Unfortunately for them, the long-time Kelowna call letters CKOV call letters went to Strathmore, Alberta, for Clear Sky's new FM station, The Wolf, approved exactly three years ago this month.

Then again, the "OO" in CKOO stands for Okanagan Oldies.

We've still got a few radio stations in need of need of new call letters to better align with their branding:
- CKQQ-FM - jon (or DanSys), is CKBH-FM taken or perhaps Pattison could do a three-way swap with one of their other stations and Clear Sky Radio to get the CKOV calls back? ;)
- CILK-FM - c'mon, Bell Media Radio, you've long since ditched the "Silk FM" branding - let's get an EZ Rock-focused branding or something generic, like CKFR
- CKLZ-FM - c'mon, Pattison, either rebrand and reformat this station as a classic rock station branded as "The Lizard" or switch the calls and/or with a rebrand to something else from Power 104 FM

Cheers,
Doug

I don't have access to the official database, but the CKBH call letters appear to be available. CKBH was an AM in Baie-Comeau, Quebec in the early 1980s, but went broke.

Proud to say I worked at CK zero zero as we called it

Also when Osoyoos to CJOR I stated I am the only one who worked at both CJOR in Vancouver and in Osoyoos. :violent1:

This format could be a winner with boomers. Here in Mexico at the RV Park pool in Melaque, they are streaming it over the pool bar speaker. Seems to make all the retired boomers here happy
