Congratulations to Roundhouse Radio for keeping things consistent. Once again Shafe and the money boys in Kelowna don't have to cut the staff any bonus cheques based on ratings.

How long will be until Rogers moves Larry into mornings at JACK? Also with Rogers, not a very good return for what they spent on building and launching Sportsnet 650.

How many times do you keep shooting yourself in the foot before you don’t have any toes left?
Hash marks take any mystery out of who might be listening.
By not being in the book, you have a story to tell.
Now they don’t.
But what the heck.
Let’s go back in the book and shoot the last toe off.
When it comes to horsepower, too much is just enough.
Objects in mirror were not fast enough....

The owners have blown how many MILLION on this?

I have heard a figure of $1.2 million a year.....to run etc....and has done just about zero income, from day one.

This makes me wonder why the owners continue to 'lose money'. Taxes? I wonder

Nice to see we now have three AM loser sports stations in the market.
The corpse must be keeping them for the tax write off.
Less than a 4 share means no one is listening.

Isn't it interesting that the AM dial isn't dead in Vancouver.

CBU Radio One's combined AM and FM signal is unstoppable. Twenty years ago NW constantly had numbers like what CBC has now.

Corus has four stations, and the leader is still heritage news talker CKNW AM.

Rogers has four stations and the ratings winner at 2440 is News 1130. Their FM sticks are an embarrassment. CBC Radio 2 beats KISS FM. The Peak is now ahead of JACK.

I wonder if anyone at Rogers has ever added up how much has been paid out in severance pay for underperforming talent over the years? Maybe the real problem is the Programming Department at Rogers who can't seem to get things right? Likely, over the years, the air talent that was terminated may not have been the problem. After the original 97 Kiss FM, the only FM success they have known was the original JACK FM programmed by the late Pat Cardinal. Since Pat left the station, the ratings have plummeted and bounced around like a fart in a wind storm. The numerous attempts at trying to get any traction for 104.9 under various names and formats has failed miserably. Through it's history, there have been a few million dollar morning shows that didn't work, and then came huge payouts. Time for a major shakeup at Rogers locally and nationally.

But first, Rogers will try to flog the Blue Jays. If the Jays get new ownership, would that affect Rogers media assets?

Absolutely.

If Rogers tosses the franchise, the stations would have to shell out real dollars to keep any rights.

I lol'd at the Toronto Star blurb that said Corus could bid for the Jays broadcast rights.

Rogers has apparently (source: TD Bank) told worried investors that any sales of the Jays will not include the media rights.

The Vancouver ratings numbers that really matter from David Bray...

Vancouver: CBC Radio One grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with an 15.1% share of hours tuned (up from 13.6% ). Taking the top spot for F25-54 was QM-FM, posting a 15.4% share (up from 14.6% last time out). FOX grabs the lead for M25-54 listeners, delivering a 11.1% share (up from 10.1%) followed by the Rock101 at 10.1% (up from 9.5%) The FOX is out in front for M18-34 with a 15.0% share of hrs. tuned (up from 14.6%). When it comes to Females 18-34, Z95.3 takes top spot with 17.1 % share.

I guess this finally proves that there is barely room for one sports station in Vancouver. As expected the new Rogers sports station split the audience with TSN1040 and now both stations are battling it out with an all traffic station and both getting beat by a religious station from Washington State. The third sports station TSN1410 doesn't have many more people listening than the 0 rating from Roundhouse, at least Roundhouse can say their signal stinks.

If not for News 1130, this would have been the darkest Christmas in the history of 2440 Ash. But, stupid hires, lack of leadership, poor strategy & poor execution equals more staff cuts and gainfully employed managers.

Meanwhile, which terrible irrelevant sports station pulls the trigger first and stops the hemmoraging and when? Again, it won’t be programming that walks the plank. Utter disasters. Someone will “take a knee” and offload at least 3-4 people, and then the other station will follow suit and 8 more people will be applying for EI.

The one surprise is the Peak. I though Ross Winters was going to destroy another station but they’re gaining on the FOX.

Ross is now using his destructive powers in Kelowna, where 1 Pattison station is playing 60% of the same music as the other one... and in Calgary where it appears they don't know WTF they're doing.
Houston, We're dealing with morons!.

It will be 1410 to flip with layoffs at 1040. The syndicated program will move over.

I wonder what 1040's long term plans are for Jeff Patterson as well. Can't see this travelling reporter feature to continue.
